Recent harvests from our garden

Last week was our first green bean harvest (actually they were purple... Royal Burgundy Bush Beans from Seeds of Change... but they changed to green when cooked!)

We enjoyed wild dewberries in late April and early May, and the early blackberry bush in our garden area put on some huge juicy berries for us all through May:

Last night we ate our first corn:

And tonight found our first yellow tomatoes (we've had a few red ones already):

Soon to come... zucchini, yellow crookneck squash, peppers, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelon, and lots and lots of blackberries in a patch down the hill. And of course lots more beans, corn and tomatoes. Yum!!

Ooh I'm jealous. We grew the purple beans a couple of years ago and they were delicious. And I can attest first hand to the wonderful abundance of your blackberries!

Oh my goodness, seeing those little faces (and the not so little, my apologies to Farmer Boy) brought tears to my eyes today. We surely do miss you, and wish we could be there to help you bring in the harvests. When my #2 sees this, I know what she'll say (in this order): "Mom, I wish we were visiting with them today" and "when can we plant our garden?"
I guess that's my cue. Time to finish with the boxes and get us to the nursery.
Missing you.

Colleen, I remember you growing those beans and how much I liked them. That's why I bought those seeds! :-) Patti

Wish you could come harvest with us Jennifer. And if you even tell me that you are almost finished unpacking boxes, I am going to fly immediately to CA and stand in your house with my mouth hanging open. ;-)
